The photo of Morro Rock was taken from a few miles north at the Northpoint bluff, taken with a wide-angle 16mm effective lens. 
The moon was taken later that evening, looking East, with an effective 1280 mm lens (400mm x 2X Teleconverter x 1.6 sensor size conversion factor) manual focus, at F/16, t= 1/125, ISO=100 with a Canon 20D on a tripod, remote shutter control.
